Ryan joined Alpha Cine in 1998 as a color timer after spending several years as a negative cutter with Andy Pratt Negative Cutting. He graduated with a BA in Filmaki8ng from Evergreen State College in 1996. Among other projects Ryan did t6he color timing for David Russo's award winning short "Vox Populi"

Married, and the father of a 3 year old, Ryan is a long distance runner, and experimental film maker.
